Exploring Windsor and Eton

Most of us associate Windsor and Eton with the Queen and the boys school respectively, but these two towns both on opposite sides of the River Thames have a fascinating history, lots to see and do and are a fantastic place to visit.

During the winter it is actually a great time to come and explore, as the busy summer period has calmed down and there are much less people around which means that there will be less queues, plenty of great places to eat out such as the Christopher restaurant Eton and you can have a bit of peace and quiet on your visit!

The town of Eton is a great place for a quiet stroll and for people who love to shop for something a little different, there are lots of amazing antique shops to spend time browsing in. Walk along the river and take in the relaxed scene before heading over the footbridge to explore Windsor…

Of course, a visit to Windsor castle is a must when you come here, you can watch the changing of the guard ceremony as the guard’s march through the local streets. As well as the castle though there is also fantastic shopping to enjoy and if you have children, they will love Legoland Windsor. If you enjoy a day at the races, you are only a stones throw from the famous Royal Ascot Racecourse where you can have a fun day out and hopefully win something too!
