Bored of the Rings?

In the 2000s New line Cinema and Warner brothers produced what is seen as the definitive film version of the Lord of the Rings. Despite a few alterations additions to the the film follows the books, observes and respects Tolkien’s legacy and recreates a credabel Middle Earth. Peter Jackson then followed this up with a trilogy that expanded on the Hobbit by bringing back fan favourite Legolas and showing the battle between the White Council, with a then good Saruman, and Sauron before he became a big fiery eye. However, with Amazon’s new Rings of Power series it might be that people are suffering from Ring fatigue. The new series was very very loosely based on an appendix that Tolkien wrote about the Second age, before the Lord of the Rings is set.

Amazon has spent billions in building this story. Despite an initial positive reaction it seems that very few of those that watched the first few episodes stuck with it. Many reason have been given from it was obvious that Halbrand was Sauron, Elves now seem to be indestructible, Galadriel is suddenly a military commander, as opposed to a  powerful sorceress and counsellor and the Harfoots, the Hobbits forebears, are monsters with no thought for one another and will happily abandon those that can’t keep up with the rest of them.
