Camping in the Forest of Dean

If you have a post lockdown urge to escape the same 4 walls and get out and enjoy the countryside, you can do a lot worse than the Forest of Dean. This beautiful ancient woodland is in Gloucestershire, on the border with Wales, and it is the perfect place for people hoping to enjoy the great outdoors this summer.

With social distancing in full swing, camping is not only one of the safest ways to holiday this year, but also a great way to calm racing minds, and exercise your legs a bit, or even a lot!

Kids tend to love sleeping in tents, so it is the perfect family holiday, and you can even take your dog to many campsites so no need to fork out for a house sitter or kennels! Make sure that you have all the equipment you need before you go, from a specialist shop such as this camping shop Dublin – once you have the car packed up you are ready to go!

The forest of dean is full of everything you can think of – beautiful mystical woodlands such as Puzzlewood – allegedly where the inspiration came for Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ to the fantastic sculpture trail, to the deep underground caverns of Clearwell caves – the perfect place to go in a downpour!

As well as this, there are many cycling routes and walking trails, whether you want something that takes a day or an hour, you will be guaranteed beautiful scenery as you explore the forest paths.
