How to protect your flooring from your furniture

Once you have had Laminate Wood Flooring, like that from Irwin Tiles  installed in your home, you will want to make sure that you maintain it to help it look as good as new for as long as possible. Wood flooring is a great investment and it can add value to your home and give you the interior decor that you are looking for, but there are a number of things you need to do to look after it.

Cleaning – when it comes to cleaning your floor make sure not to use too much water as this can affect the wood and cause it to become damaged over time. This also means you should clean up any spillages as soon as they occur and deal with any stains as soon as possible.

Protection – in order to protect your floor you should follow the cleaning tips above and also ensure that your furniture doesn’t leave indentions in the wood or scratch it as they are moved. For this to happen you will need to consider using rugs in some areas (always ensure that you use non-slip backing on rugs that are placed on wood floors) and you should also look at protective pads. These pads are placed on the legs and feet of your furniture items to help protect the floor underneath. This is particularly important for dining room chairs that are going to be pulled in and out of underneath the table a number of times each day.
